About
Ron Heikes
I’ve spent nearly a lifetime as an Architect often frustrated by the amount of time required for buildings to manifest not to mention the design limitations imposed on the built environment. In comparison Sculptures can grow exponentially faster with enormous freedoms for expression.
All of these sculptures originated from the heart. Some of these works were seen in their entirety at the outset while others grew in a more pragmatic way but for either process the Heart was the overseer. These works are all about Energy and thus about Nature as the two are synonymous. I hesitate to put labels and names on many works because we each interpret and relate to Nature via our own filters. The one place that remains unfiltered for me though is my heart. If I don’t ‘feel It’ then it doesn’t get built. I could build a plethora of sculptures from my head and or from my sense of design all of which may be well received but unless I’m in love with a piece it will never reach the street so to speak.
Everyone will resonate with this work differently and thus make associations that are meaningful to them. Some will find literal associations with Nature. Yet at the heart of it, beyond the filtering and interpretations we all know that when something is born of Nature that it just feels right. Our common denominator in feeling and sensing Nature is our Heart. This is the one thing that we all have in common and which binds us all.
